Partner Family Support PDF Print E-mail
Family support volunteers work directly with Habitat partner families, helping them throughout their journey to homeownership. Volunteers can help in the following ways:

•    Family Selection

Committee members review applications from potential partner families and make home visits to determine eligibility. Members attend selection committee meetings once a month.

•    Money Mentors

Our affiliate uses the Financial Peace University curriculum developed by author and radio personality, Dave Ramsey.  Volunteers attend the classes with our families and help lead the group discussion.  Mentors then work one-on-one with families to help them develop a personalized budget. This is an opportunity to help someone become a successful homeowner!

•    Home Cleaning

When a Habitat home is completed, the families help clean the house to move-in condition. We are in need of volunteers who can help with the cleaning and supervise the process. Homes are cleaned in the spring and fall during an approximately 4-6 week block of time. Your commitment can vary depending on your availability.

•    Education

The Family Support Zone is always looking to partner with members of the community who have the desire and skills to teach our families to be good homeowners. We currently offer classes on homeowner insurance, predatory lending, wills, home decorating, being a good neighbor, home security, landscaping and car care. This commitment would be for one 2-hour class a few times a year.
