Our Accomplishments
Habitat for Humanity of Greater Stark & Carroll Counties is a leader among U.S. affiliates:
Since 1995, HFHGSCC is the number one homebuilder of Habitat homes in Ohio, and in the top 40 in the nation. HFHGSCC is the first affiliate in Ohio to reach the 200th house mark. In addition to the homes built in greater Stark county, HFHGSCC tithes 10% of our unrestricted donations to building houses in Ghana, West Africa, and Central America. Since our beginning we have built over 500 houses overseas.
In the summer of 2006, HFHGSCC Habitat was recognized for being only the 7th affiliate nationwide to tithe over $1 million to help build homes overseas.
What a difference HFHGSCC has made:
• We have partnered with over 335 area families in home ownership thus providing a stable and secure shelter to more than 900 children.
• Habitat for Humanity homeowners combined, paid approximately $120,000 this past year in property taxes to the City of Canton.
• We have built an army of volunteers, numbering 5,000 strong annually from in and outside the city.
• Because of our efforts, the City of Canton has received national recognition in promoting homeownership opportunities to those in need.
